ARCADIS Honored Nationally For Award-Winning Projects In Louisiana

The Seabrook Sector Gate Complex spans the 500-ft wide New Orleans Inner Harbor
Navigation Canal (IHNC) at Lake Pontchartrain and works in conjunction with
other elements of the HSDRRS. Bioengineering ARCADIS LLC provided design team
management for the project. The Seabrook Complex includes a 95-ft wide navigable
sector gate flanked by two 50-ft wide flow control vertical lift gates, concrete
T-walls, a roadway ramp, and upgrades to a railroad floodgate. During a storm
event, the gates are closed to form a continuous barrier to reduce flood risk
for some of the areas hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina - New Orleans East, metro
New Orleans, Gentilly, the Ninth Ward and St. Bernard Parish.

The St. Bernard-Chalmette Loop Levee Floodwall System is another major element
of the overall HSDRRS and was engineered by Bioengineering ARCADIS, LLC. The
23-mile-long Chalmette floodwall project included raising and strengthening six
levee reaches and constructing two 56-ft sector gates, five highway/railroad
closure gates, a pump station, and ties to the Mississippi River Levee system.
Elements of this system also included designing bypass channels around
construction areas to provide a path for fish passage and maintain fresh water
flow to marsh...

ARCADIS Wins Two Environmental Restoration Contracts in Louisiana

For the "White Ditch Freshwater and Sediment Diversion" project, the U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers New Orleans District selected ARCADIS US to design a
freshwater and sediment diversion system south of New Orleans. The goal of the
program is to offset the trend of coastal deterioration brought on by years of
human intervention on the river. Delivering valuable land-building sediments
from the Mississippi River will help maintain the current area of marsh habitat
and its ability to reduce vulnerability to coastal storms, waves and flooding.

The other ARCADIS US contract is for the Lower Barataria Sediment Diversion
Project, part of the state of Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration
Authority's larger, $50 billion program of coastal restoration and protection.
Intended to rebuild the barrier islands, shoreline and coastal marshes of
Caminada Headland and Shell Island, the program is designed to restore both
habitat and the sustainability of the shoreline itself. An integral component of
the overall program, the Lower Barataria Sediment Diversion Project is expected
to create between 9,000 to 12,000 acres of wetlands over a 50-year period.

Restoring coastal wetlands and natural barriers are all part of a strategy
critical to...

The Alvarado Water Treatment Plant, the oldest active facility providing water
to San Diego residents, now uses ozone rather than chlorine to disinfect the
city's drinking water. Ozone disinfection reduces the water's level of
potentially harmful chlorine by-product and removes tastes and odors for safer,
more aesthetically pleasing water. The ozone process was placed between settling
and filtration, never before imagined in San Diego, and thereby reduced chemical
dosages and energy usage.

"This project, constructed in phases and affecting every facility on the site
over 12 years, showcases ARCADIS' approach to applying innovative solutions in
concert with nature to our clients' most challenging projects," said Steve
Blake, CEO for ARCADIS US "We ensured the project didn't disrupt local species
habitat, we employed sustainable design elements including the use of solar
panels, delivered the project on time and under budget, and the plant provided
the citizens of San Diego uninterrupted service that met all drinking water
regulations over the 12 year construction period."

Established in 1960, ASCE's OCEA Award recognizes a project and the many
engineers who have made a significant contribution to the civil engineering
profession.

ARCADIS to Receive High Honors at April Gala From ACEC New York for Project Accomplishments

At Bay Park, ARCADIS engineered an innovative dechlorination project that reused
existing plant facilities – the first such installation in the United States.
ARCADIS’ work saved the county millions of dollars in capital costs
compared to other alternatives, and protected nearby Jones Beach, a valuable
recreational and environmental asset.

Historically, water supply for Westchester County Water District #3 was drawn
from a connection to the New York City Department of Environmental
Protection’s Catskill Aqueduct. When the County learned there were to be
extended shutdowns of the aqueduct, they recognized the need to develop a
long-term alternative supply of water and decided on a new transmission main and
a pre-fabricated pumping station. ARCADIS was responsible for the entire project
from initial planning through design and construction resulting in the
County’s first large-scale installation of ultraviolet (UV) disinfection
technology and no disruptions to service in their critical service area, which
includes a hospital, penitentiary and medical college.
The Bay Park STP Dechlorination Facility will also compete in the national
competition sponsored by the ACEC.

CEO of ARCADIS U.S. Steve Blake Announces Retirement

During his tenure, ARCADIS US grew its revenue five times, while improving
bottom line performance ten times. Blake was instrumental in the integration of
a number of large mergers, notably with the environmental firm BBL in 2005 and
with water consulting and engineering company Malcolm Pirnie in 2009. Both
additions have contributed significantly to the company’s growth. In
addition, he successfully managed many other acquisitions that enhanced or added
service lines which aided in the ARCADIS expansion. As an Executive Board member
he oversaw the Global Business Line (GBL) Environment; GBL Water; Global Health
and Safety and supported RTKL in their transition to be part of the ARCADIS
family.

Effective June 1, 2013, ARCADIS COO Gary Coates will succeed Blake as CEO for
ARCADIS US while retaining his current position. Zack Smith, chief strategy
officer for ARCADIS US, has been nominated for appointment to assume
Blake’s post on the ARCADIS executive board. Once approved by
shareholders, which is expected, Smith will assume responsibility for Latin

ARCADIS Offers Engineering Expertise Post-Sandy

Almost immediately after Hurricane Sandy hit, ARCADIS started supporting
communities in New York and New Jersey by managing the massive debris removal
efforts. After nearly three months, ARCADIS has documented the removal of more
than 2.5 million cubic yards of storm debris, enough debris to fill Madison
Square Garden four times. ARCADIS is the only firm providing debris management
services using HaulPass®, a proprietary electronic debris management system.

In addition to debris management, ARCADIS is under contract with some of the
nation's largest financial services and telecommunications companies providing
disaster recovery and risk assessment expertise for their facilities in lower
Manhattan where saltwater storm surge flooding was at its worst. ARCADIS
engineers and scientists are consulting with clients on restoration, assessing
conditions and structural integrity of buildings and waterfront infrastructure.
As the focus changes from recovery to preparedness, ARCADIS experts are also
conducting storm surge modeling, flood-proofing and prevention planning to
develop risk reduction strategies for future severe weather events.

ARCADIS Employees Help Make the Holidays Brighter for Communities Hit by Sandy

"Many residents of these communities are facing months of displacement and
rebuilding, employing local residents to help clean up their communities is a
win-win," said Sam Rosania of ARCADIS US. "We get highly motivated employees
that may have lost their jobs due to the storm, and residents get a boost to
their collective morale and the ability to return to a state of normalcy more
quickly."

Hundreds of ARCADIS employees, along with the local temporary workers, are using
state-of-the-art technology to track, monitor and expedite the removal of more
than 254,000 tons and 806,000 cubic yards of debris from affected communities.

"Using our HaulPass® handheld device to track and monitor every truckload of
debris, we reduce fraud and increase efficiency," said Rosania. "With accurate
data from HaulPass, local municipalities can submit for FEMA reimbursement and
begin to rebuild sooner."

Additionally, ARCADIS employees have given generously to help the communities
hardest hit by Superstorm Sandy. Employees gave more than $14,000 that was fully
matched by the firm, and the company made an additional donation of $22,000, for
a total donation of $50,000 to the American Red Cross.

ARCADIS Assists Storm Affected Municipalities In Debris Removal

ARCADIS, has been contracted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and state and
local governments to help manage the massive task of removing an estimated 12
million cubic yards of debris and to carefully track every truckload to reduce
costs, increase efficiencies and maintain electronic records to speed recovery
efforts along the eastern seaboard. The company uses an automated debris
management system, HaulPass, to track debris cleanup and provide real-time
debris removal information to local recovery managers. HaulPass has been
deployed in the aftermath of other natural disasters such as Hurricanes Katrina
and Ike, and the tornados in Alabama and Joplin, Mo., streamlining the cleanup
process.

"With virtually the entire coast of New Jersey devastated, communities are faced
with serious logistical bottlenecks removing the storm debris. Our HaulPass
system helps facilitate a faster turnaround for debris removal and disposal."
said Sam Rosania, of ARCADIS US. "That's critical in boosting public morale and
helping residents return to some state of normalcy more quickly."

In addition to debris removal and management, ARCADIS is applying its disaster
recovery expertise to provide moisture mapping, mold investigation and asbestos
surveys...
