ARCADIS provided expert services in support of a mining company's litigation to recover claims from a former environmental insurance carrier.  The claims were associated with the cost of investigating and remediating incidents of groundwater contamination at a number of sites across the country.  The sites ranged in complexity from relatively short-lived, single contaminant source sites to large processing facilities with lengthy histories of operations and numerous impoundments, ponds, piles and tanks.
ARCADIS evaluated available data to render expert opinions on the source, cause, timing of releases, and the nature and extent of the groundwater contamination.  Expert opinions were based on an extensive review of company files relating to environmental actions and conditions at the various sites, employee interviews, and site visits, as well as independent ARCADIS modeling of the fate and transport of chemicals in groundwater and the vadose zone.  ARCADIS work included expert reports, depositions, trial testimony, and the preparation of graphic exhibits for the court.
