University of North CarolinaInvestigation and remediation of low-level radioactive waste disposal site located in a wetland area subject to flash flooding. Primary constituents of concern include tritium (hydrogen-3), carbon-14 (C-14), toluene, xylenes, and 1,4-dioxane. Developed a comprehensive site assessment plan, performed geophysical testing and developed corrective action plan. Constructed a treatment pad, staging area and other site controls. Installed monitoring wells, collected groundwater samples using low-flow techniques and packaged and disposed of investigation-derived waste.
