Jacksonville Landing Retail Shopping Center

Jacksonville, FL

The Jacksonville Landing is a $32 million festival retail shopping center located in the heart of downtown Jacksonville, Florida. A focal point of activity for both the city's core business district and the northeast Florida region, final development of The Landing culminated after more than four years of planning and preparation. Jacksonville's municipal government forged a dynamic public-private partnership with the developer, the Rouse Company of Columbia, MaryIand, to make the project a reality. ARCADIS served as design consultant for The Landing, which occupies a site approximately six acres in size. The firm was responsible for acquiring the necessary permits for the project, designing its utilities, drainage, grading, paving, and irrigation systems, and provided surveying, site planning, landscape architectural, and construction administration services. Utilities included an eight-inch watermain loop, fire protection, master meter and back-flow preventers, and six and eight-inch gravity sewers. Additionally, ARCADIS performed a lighting study and parking design for the rehabilitation of an existing city parking lot, which is utilized by The Landing. The 126,000 square foot, two-level facility is sited on the north bank of the St. Johns River, and houses more than 70 shops, restaurants, and specialty retailers.
